Het Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter P-serie is ontworpen voor het vastleggen van beelden van hoe een onderwerp infrarood licht reflecteert of uitstraalt.
Het infrarood spectrum
Infrarood lichtgolven bevinden zich in het elektromagnetische spectrum boven het zichtbare licht vanwege hun langere golflengte. Veel oppervlakken en materialen reageren of stralen infraroodlichtgolven anders uit dan zichtbare lichtgolven, waardoor foto's worden vastgelegd op een manier die niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Dergelijke afbeeldingen vereisen een infraroodgevoelig medium zoals infraroodfilm of een digitale fotografische sensor, wat effectiever kan zijn wanneer deze worden gebruikt zonder de infraroodblokkerende filters waarmee deze vaak zijn uitgerust.
Werking van het Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter
Conventionele lichtbronnen zoals de zon, fotografische flitsers of gloeilampen kunnen worden gebruikt als infrarood lichtbron. Omdat infraroodfilms en digitale fotografische sensoren echter gevoeliger kunnen zijn voor de relatief hogere energie en het zichtbare licht met kortere golflengte, die deze bronnen ook uitstralen, kan het infrarode licht worden verdoezeld. Het Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter maakt het mogelijk om beelden vast te leggen van hoe onderwerpen worden verlicht door infrarood licht door het blokkeren van ultraviolette en zichtbare lichtgolven met een golflengte van minder dan 670nm die op de lens vallen waarop het is gemonteerd. In plaats daarvan wordt zichtbaar en infrarood licht op of boven 670nm geleidelijk doorgelaten, met 50% infrarood licht op 720nm en 98-99% infraroodlicht op 950nm.
Beelden met meer contrast en helderheid
Het Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter is gemaakt van optisch mineraalglas en heeft een antiglans coating om oppervlaktereflecties te helpen verminderen voor meer contrast en helderheid, terwijl extra hydrofobe coatings zorgen voor een verbeterd pareleffect bij contact met water en gemakkelijker schoonmaken.
C-vormige randen voor betere duurzaamheid
Het filter heeft C-vormige randen. Deze afgeronde randvorm is bestand tegen chippen voor een betere duurzaamheid.
Cokin filterhouder
Het infraroodfilter moet in de eerste sleuf van de filterhouder geplaatst worden om te voorkomen dat strooilicht tussen het filter en de achterliggende lens terechtkomt. Voor gebruik met een Cokin P-serie filterhouder zonder ingebouwde pakkingen is een lichtblokkerende pakking bijgeleverd. Het wordt echter aangeraden om de Cokin EVO M filterhouder te gebruiken.

The Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter P-series is designed to capture images of how a subject reflects or emits infrared light.
The Infrared Spectrum
Infrared light waves are located in the electromagnetic spectrum above visible light because of their longer wavelength. Many surfaces and materials react or emit infrared light waves differently than visible light waves, capturing images in a way that is not visible to the human eye. Such images require an infrared-sensitive medium such as infrared film or a digital photographic sensor, which can be more effective when used without the infrared-blocking filters they are often equipped with.
Functioning of the Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter
Conventional light sources such as the sun, photographic strobes or light bulbs can be used as infrared light sources. However, since infrared films and digital photographic sensors can be more sensitive to the relatively higher energy and shorter wavelength visible light that these sources also emit, the infrared light can be obscured. The Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter makes it possible to capture images of how subjects are illuminated by infrared light by blocking ultraviolet and visible light waves with a wavelength of less than 670nm that fall on the lens on which it is mounted. Instead, visible and infrared light at or above 670nm is gradually transmitted, with 50% infrared light at 720nm and 98-99% infrared light at 950nm.
Images with more contrast and clarity
The Cokin Nuances Extreme Infrared IR 720 filter is made of optical mineral glass and has an anti-glare coating to help reduce surface reflections for greater contrast and clarity, while additional hydrophobic coatings provide an enhanced pearl effect on contact with water and easier cleaning.
C-shaped edges for better durability
The filter has C-shaped edges. This rounded edge shape resists chipping for better durability.
Cokin filter holder
The infrared filter must be inserted into the first slot of the filter holder to prevent stray light from passing between the filter and the lens behind. For use with a Cokin P-series filter holder without built-in gaskets, a light blocking gasket is included. However, it is recommended to use the Cokin EVO M filter holder.
