De Caruba Extension Tube voor Olympus heeft geen optische elementen en daardoor is het mogelijk om onderwerpen groter èn van dichterbij in beeld te brengen, zonder dat de kwaliteit van het beeld veranderd. De tussenring heeft een chromen vatting en is compatibel met de oudere Olympus Four Thirds objectieven. Opties zoals de automatische scherpstelling en TTL lichtmeting blijven gewoon werken. Wel is het aan te raden om handmatig scherp te stellen, omdat de scherpte erg nauw luistert.
Ideaal voor macrofotografie
Elk objectief heeft een minimale scherpstelafstand. Als je een extension tube, of zogeheten tussenring, tussen het objectief en de camerabody plaatst, wordt de minimale scherpstelafstand kleiner. Hoe groter de brandpuntsafstand van de tussenring, hoe dichterbij je kunt komen. Dit is perfect voor macrofotografie of voor het maken van bijzondere close-ups.

Deze set is alleen compatibel met Olympus objectieven uit het oude Four Thirds systeem.
Hoe werkt een tussenring?
Een tussenring zorgt ervoor dat er een grotere afstand ontstaat tussen de beeldsensor van de camera en de achterste lens van het objectief. Hierdoor wordt de scherpstelafstand van het objectief korter, waardoor het mogelijk wordt dichter op het onderwerp scherp te stellen. Hierdoor wordt het onderwerp groter op de sensor geprojecteerd dan zonder tussenring het geval zou zijn. Een tussenring vergroot dus de eigen vergrotingsfactor van een objectief. Dit kun je met de volgende formule berekenen.
maximale vergrotingsfactor met tussenring = vergrotingsfactor objectief + (mm tussenring / brandpuntsafstand)
Stel je hebt een 85mm objectief met een eigen vergrotingsfactor van 0.13. Met de 25mm tussenring wordt de vergrotingsfactor van het objectief als volgt.
maximale vergrotingsfactor met 25mm tussenring = 0.13 + (25 / 85) = 0.13 + 0.29 = 0.42

The Caruba Extension Tube for Olympus does not have any optical elements and therefore it is possible to photograph subjects larger and from a closer distance, without changing the quality of the image. The extension tube has a chrome mount and is compatible with older Olympus Four Thirds lenses. Features such as automatic focus and TTL light metering continue to work as usual. However, it is recommended to focus manually, as the focus is very tight.
Ideal for macro photography
Every lens has a minimum focusing distance. If you put an extension tube, or so called spacer ring, between the lens and the camera body, the minimum focusing distance becomes smaller. The greater the focal length of the extension tube, the closer you can get. This is perfect for macro photography or for creating special close-ups.

This set is only compatible with Olympus lenses from the old Four Thirds system.
How does a spacer work?
A spacer ring increases the distance between the camera's image sensor and the rear lens of the lens. This shortens the focusing distance of the lens, making it possible to focus closer on the subject. As a result, the subject is projected onto the sensor larger than it would be without a spacer ring. A spacer ring increases the magnification factor of a lens. This can be calculated using the following formula.
Maximum magnification with a spacer ring = lens magnification factor + (mm spacer ring / focal length)
For example, you have an 85mm lens with a magnification factor of 0.13. With the 25mm spacer ring the magnification factor of the lens becomes as follows.
